This tour is a real traditional night in Istanbul. No professional belly dancers, folk dancers or tourist hangouts. We will go to places where Turks go to dine with their friends.
After picking you up at your hotel, the evening starts with a visit to a traditional ‘Simit bakery‘. A simit is a bread roll that is covered with grape molasses and sesame seeds. With our simits in hand we will visit a local kıraathane – which means reading rooms, but in reality is a cafe – to eat our simit with a glass of Turkish tea. On to Ocakbaşı – a traditional self-service barbecue restaurant where you will sit by the fire and grill your own kebap. A glass of Turkish Rakı might accompany your meal.
We will continue our gourmet journey passing several Turkish Restaurants en route to Meyhane – a traditional Tavern where you have a ‘Meze’ (a selection of appetizers), drink (more?) Raki and listen to live Turkish music performed by Gypsy Musicians. But, wait, there’s more.
At our next stop, you will have ‘İşkembe Çorbası’ (Tripe Soup). Finally, no Turkish evening night out is complete without ‘Türk Kahvesi’ – Turkish Coffee. A professional guide will be your escort for this culinary adventure. We will return you to your hotel after the tour.
