Up, Up and Away – Hot Air Balloon Ride Deluxe

Cappadocia, located in almost the geographic center of Turkey, is often called the jewel of Central Anatolia.  Its otherworldly landscape is hard to describe.  Perhaps moonscape says it best.  From its conical rock outcrops to its churches, chapels, and homes carved into lava rocks to its underground cities, Cappadocia is like few other places on earth.  Its churches, cut into the lava rock, dating back hundreds of years,.  Many are filled with Byzantine frescoes of old and new testament scenes.  Its underground cities, some eight floors deep, were built to protect the early Christian inhabitants from invaders.  Present-day Cappadocia is known for its apricots, cherries, and sugar beets, as well as its carpet weaving and decorative pottery tradition.  And, more recently, wine-making.

One of the best ways to experience Cappadocia and its surreal landscape of valleys and rock formations is to take a hot air balloon ride.  On this Cappadocia Hot Air Balloon ride, you will share your balloon basket with 12-16 fellow adventurers on your hour and a half ride.  The wind will determine the route of your balloon.  However, wherever the route, you will see breathtaking views as you gently drift over fairy chimneys, through valleys, each with its distinctive rock formations, and over orchards and vineyards. Tea or coffee and a snack come with your pre-flight briefing and you will be greeted with Champagne after your ride.  You will then have the rest of the day to continue to explore the wonders of Cappadocia.

We will pick you up from your hotel about an hour before sunrise and bring you to our office for a quick cup of coffee and biscuits, a pre-flight briefing and check the wind to determine the best take-off location.

You will be sharing the balloon basket with 12 to 16 fellow adventurers for your hour and half ride, using the different layers of winds to ’steer’ the balloon to the most interesting and exciting places. Sometimes your balloon may actually disappear deep into a canyon. Upon set down we will celebrate our Balloon ride with soft drinks and Champagne. We will transport you back to your hotel and you can continue with your day in Cappadocia.
