Description

Sea Kayaking in Kekova

Kekova Island is an island only because earthquakes and a rise in the sea level of the Mediterranean separated it from the mainland millennia ago.  Now protected as an ancient site,  it is not possible to explore Kekova on foot.  And, although much of the ancient city is now underwater it, too, is off-limits to swimmers and divers.  So, the closest you can get either to the ruins on the island itself or to the sunken city is from the deck of a boat.  However, you can get even closer from a kayak, which allows you to actually paddle over the underwater ruins that date back 2000 years.  You can also get a close-up view of the ruins of the city that used to call Kekova home, including remains of the stone buildings from the ancient city that sprinkle the coast of the island.
