The ceremony of the Whirling Dervishes is an 800-year old tradition in Turkey, and consequently an important part of Turkey’s cultural heritage. In fact, UNESCO proclaimed this unique ceremony an Intangible Heritage of Humanity in 2005.

We will pick you up from your hotel an hour before the ceremony begins (see below for starting times) and take you to the Saruhan Caravanserai in Avanos. The Saruhan Caravanserai is a renovated building that was one of the camel caravan stops used by businessmen on their journey from the far East to Istanbul and the Grand Bazaar to sell their wares. The Dervish ceremony lasts for 50 minutes.
