If you’ve ever wanted to witness the Whirling Dervishes, this is your opportunity.  Whirling is a religious ceremony practiced by the Mevlevi sect of Sufi, the mystical branch of Islam.  Whirling is believed to bring the adherents to a higher union with God. The ceremony of the Whirling Dervishes is an 800-year tradition in Turkey, and consequently, an important part of Turkey’s cultural heritage. In fact, UNESCO proclaimed this unique ritual as an Intangible Heritage of Humanity in 2005.  The Whirling ceremony is preceded by a concert of Turkish music, with special lighting to capture the mystical atmosphere of the evening.  There are several commercial Dervish shows offered in Istanbul.  We take you to an authentic ceremony.
